My only concern about the Internet is that if one does start profiting off their own distribution, which is still in its exploratory phase, the big companies are going to catch on to that and taint the commodity with the same monolithic crap that has already ruined television.

The corporations are slowlly catching on, they always slow on new trends. However thankfully, independent artists can produce animation on a very low budget. The days of the nessecity for vast company resources for a cartoon are over. I think we could see a new golden age of animation in the main stream sooner then later.

Enjoy, or gag on, my mind !

I am baffled why people who complain about this forum remain on it.

(P.S. My blog is for mine own amusement, I don't care how many look at it)

You can blame most of the censorship on the show on Janet Jackson's supposed wardrobe malfunction. The  FCC scared the bloody b-jezuz out of the execs with all the fines and crackdowns that hit right after the incident.
Before that they were all gung ho and excited about the level of nudity and sexual Innuendo in the show.

So the reason why APC was canceled was because of the Super Bowl Incident?!!

The trouble with Vincent's thought there is that APC ran the summer before Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction. According to Steve Worth's postings at the time, a censored version of Naked Beach Frenzy was done in the week preceding August 21, 2003, because Spike was balking at the time about the nudity (supposedly because cable systems were complaining), 5 months before the FCC lost its shit.
http://groups.google.com/group/alt.animation.spumco/browse_thread/thread/3ce1b5e288693cb7#
APC wasn't officially canceled at the time, but they refused to show NBF, refused to reshow Firedogs 2, and soon after APC was no longer being shown in reruns (by early September):
http://groups.google.com/group/alt.animation.spumco/browse_thread/thread/7ba58c3853a596b5#
By September 23rd, Spike had officially pulled the show (and Gary the Rat and Stripperella), reportedly for a "relaunch" the next year:
http://groups.google.com/group/alt.animation.spumco/browse_thread/thread/1f0222f711e690d2#
Industry speculation was that Spike was going to ditch the animation
http://news.awn.com/index.php?ltype=top&newsitem_no=9545
While they (Spike, and Steve Worth) denied it, it ended up being the case, unless you count less than a dozen episodes of Afro Samurai in the last 6 years, and a half hearted airing of the rest of Stripperella nd some Ren and Stimpy Classics eventually.
http://groups.google.com/group/alt.animation.spumco/browse_thread/thread/978caa71dac218ff#
I asked December 28th if there was a relaunch date yet, and there was not
http://groups.google.com/group/alt.animation.spumco/browse_thread/thread/c0d2d7bf74a9dee0#
There was a report on Cartoon Brew that APC would return in August 2004, but it didn't pan out

http://groups.google.com/group/alt.animation.spumco/browse_thread/thread/f2fdc2028cda5606#
The Cartoon Brew thing likely referenced this:
http://www.thefutoncritic.com/news.aspx?id=6663
They quickly denied the statement, and it came out at that time that Animation Nation had reported the show was finally officially cancelled, a year after being yanked, tho it was not confirmed by Spike
http://groups.google.com/group/alt.animation.spumco/browse_thread/thread/8a80e8fa87d1bdf5#

As far as I can tell, it was never actually officially canceled. It just went away after less than three months and never returned. Maybe we should call Spike and ask them when they're going to show the rest of the season...

As I bring this up....Naked beach frenzy had nudity, but by the today's standards of TV censorship its not likely for it being shown on Comedy Central as a few minute short for one of its South park movies. Even if the censorship would allow it, it would still be likely censored.{Which will make perverted men into boobs cry with torture and cursing  Roll Eyes}. South park has done crazy shit before and did Comedy Central censor it? Well they did and sometimes didn't, but however they allowed to make the most fucked up things happen even if it got the studio or any of its workers in trouble or not.

Not to mention that South Park had pissed of alot of people with giving the virgin mary, not to mention that they killed the queen of England by committing suicide . Now when Drawn together came along they did things in my opinion what south park couldn't do. I'll just say this that I think they were a little too far with the racism humor. But then again...The Boondocks get away with the N word uncensored on Adult Swim so its not my problem. I guess censorship is different in many different ways.

Censorship is completely inconsistent it seems, sometimes things aren't OK, then they are, then they're not, and so on and so forth.  If it's trying to teach people what's right and wrong it's definitely sending a confusing message.

It's been almost six years, and since then, the remaining episodes aired uncut on DVD.

Yep, just about time for them to relaunch the show and finish off the season...

I would agree. But I am sorta mixed about the whole idea of bringing back APC.

I think Naked Beach Frenzy may still be too hot for TV.

I kind of wonder how they divided up the episodes in the places where APC did air (I know it aired in some other countries). Did they also get the Ralph Bakshi live action segments?

Maybe. Though Stripperella had bare boobs in almost every episode, but they were always blurred out (If I remember correctly, they switched to black bars later.), meaning that the network got cold feet a while before the infamous wardrobe malfunction.
