Gossipy Rumors

Hey everyone,

Important rule I need everyone to stick to. This is a simple one and is designed to protect people from slander or defamatory posts. This is something that I'd do anyway as a courtesy to the people involved, but is doubly important because this site is hosted in the UK where such things are very illegal. I seriously doubt people would get the board thrown offline for it of course, but there's rules in place that we have to stick to.

So:

Don't post anything that isn't any of your business on this board.

Examples of posts that are none of your (or my, for that matter)'s business and are potentially or definitely slanderous:

"I heard the sound designer on that show likes to sniff glue at the weekends"
"I heard those two were dating"
"[Person X] has a reputation for doing [some activity]"

Why is this important? Well, see above, it's none of our business, for a start. Second, people inevitably get annoyed about reading crap about themselves on a message board. And lastly, I don't have time to pre-screen everything people post here, so persistent gossipers will sadly just end up getting banned. If you wouldn't say it to their face, don't say it here.
